Simon Wolf Speaks in this Bonus Material Compilation

I've seen all kinds of compilation DVDs in the adult industry, but On Location With Simon Wolf may be the first compilation disc ever devoted entirely to bonus features. And while owning this disc may not make much sense for those who already own two or more of the movies highlighted on this DVD, for those who have never seen a Simon Wolf title, it's a nice disc to have to find out what the studio is all about.

The main presentation here is a collection of four behind the scenes segments that run roughly a half hour each, with each segment bookended by director Bud Lee, who also directed all four of the films. The behind the scenes segments are the same ones contained on the DVD versions of the films, so if you already own those films, you're not going to get much new stuff on this disc.

The four behind the scenes segments are for the films Blue Angel, Love At First Byte, Naughty Bedtime Stories and Gypsy Curse. Blue Angel was one of the very first Simon Wolf DVD releases since the studio began releasing its own films (prior to Blue Angel, Simon Wolf films were released through Adam & Eve); Love At First Byte contains some of the better special effects you'll find in a Simon Wolf movie; Naughty Bedtime Stories is by-far the best Simon Wolf release to date; and Gypsy Curse is their current bestseller - so viewers will get a nice overview as to what the company is all about in these segments.

There is plenty of hardcore action to watch during these segments, but be warned that they are more of a tease than anything else - although the behind the scenes of Love At First Byte does contain the fantastic cumshot facial that Aurora Snow gets from Evan Stone in this movie. However, this disc is clearly intended to inform and spark interest rather than to arouse - so keep that in mind should you decide to pick up a copy.

The highlight of the DVD (at least for Simon Wolf fans) is the first-ever interview with Simon Wolf himself, which is conducted by Bud Lee. Simon stays off camera, so we never get to see what he really looks like, although thanks to the cameraman adjusting the position a bit at the beginning of the interview, I can tell you that Simon wears glasses...but that's about all you can make out. The interview itself doesn't really provide any new information about Mr. Wolf that die-hard fans don't already know (his love for animals, his intention to make adult movies more "mainstream", etc.), but it is nice to hear him in his own words, and a great introduction for those who may not know his background.

Also on the DVD are five interviews with talent that can also be found on other Simon Wolf releases. It would have been nice to see all the interviews from previous discs compiled on this DVD, but viewers will still get a nice sampling with the likes of Evan Stone, Asia Carrera, Nikita Denise, Aurora Snow and Jessica Drake.

The disc also contains trailers for Blue Angel, Love At First Byte, Naughty Bedtime Stories, Gypsy Curse, Magic Sex and Dripping Wet Sex Vol. 1.

So the bottom line on this one is: If you already have a collection of Simon Wolf discs, you'll probably want to pass, but if you're interested in the studio and want to find out more about Simon Wolf movies before investing in a few, On The Set With Simon Wolf is a nice introduction to one of the better studios in adult film.
