The Next DVD You'll Want To See...

There's nothing fancy about Jonathan Morgan's Next. No big budget effects, no lavish sets, no fancy editing or video tricks. But that doesn't mean it's not a very fun movie to watch. Using the strength of his performers and the strength of the written word (Morgan wrote as well as directs the movie), Next is a fun little couples-oriented flick that shouldn't be missed, especially if you're a fan of Wicked Girl Kaylani Lei.

The premise of the movie is rather simple: Kaylani and Brianna Love play best friends Jordan and Stacy (respectively), who have been unlucky in love, so they decide to join "Busy Bee Dating" - one of those speed dating clubs where you sit at a table and meet with dozens of prospective mates in a short amount of time.

Before we get to that point, however, Brianna tells Kaylani about the last date she had, and we flashback to a sex scene between Brianna and Derrick Pierce. Couples may want to note that all of the sex in Next is boy/girl, and all of it is of the "normal" variety - which means there's no anal or any kind of degrading action toward the females. That may be a turn-off if you're a hardcore raincoater, but if you're part of a couple who only enjoys boy/girl pairings, Next will be right up your alley.

As great as Derrick is in bed, he's an ex-con and the police have surrounded the house after his tryst with Brianna. But we find out that Kaylani has been just as unlucky in love. Her last boyfriend, played by Tommy Gunn, wound up having an affair with his secretary, Kissy Kapri. We get to see them in a flashback segment that is pretty hot. Although Kissy has a rather large tattoo on her right leg (and I've never been very pro-tattoo), she's got a nice body and I've always enjoyed watching her perform on camera. Both this scene and the previous one with Brianna conclude with the guys pulling out and jerking off onto their respective girl's pussies.

Kaylani agrees to go to the speed dating session with Brianna, and while Brianna hooks up with a crazy biker (Alex Sanders, who takes her into a back room and fucks her on top of a washing machine), Kaylani is to endure a wild cast of characters that include cameos from Wicked stars like Julia Ann, Carmen Hart and Michael Raven. I don't know how long you have to be on screen to quality for AVN's Best Non-Sex Performance Award, but Carmen had me rolling on the floor in the few minutes she's on-screen here. Wicked needs to hang onto this gal, she's got talent (and I don't just mean in the bedroom)!

As each prospective suitor meets Kaylani, she fantasizes about what a sexual encounter with them might be like. For most, she ends the fantasy before things go anywhere, but with a Frenchman played by Voodoo, she likes him enough to visualize what sex might be like with him. This leads to the hottest scene in Next, as Kaylani and Voodoo go at it in a segment where Kaylani is wearing a corset and black heels. She gets fucked in all of the standard positions and takes a great facial at the end - much of which lands in her mouth.

But it turns out that Voodoo's character has a wife (here's where the funny Carmen Hart cameo occurs) and Kaylani's dream man is not who she thinks he is. To make matters worse, Brianna has left with Alex, and Kaylani no longer has a ride home. On the way out, she bumps into Steven St. Croix who offers her a ride...six months later, Kaylani is living with him, and it looks like she's finally met her "Mr. Right".

The DVD of Next provides another anamorphic transfer and 5.1 Dolby, as is now the norm for Wicked Pictures releases. Extras include a 20-mintue Behind The Scenes featurette (also anamorphic), along with non-anamorphic bonus scenes, including an extended version of the Kaylani/Voodoo coupling in the movie. There's also 5-minutes worth of bloopers; 8 trailers (not counting two pre-loaded ones and one for Next); star stats and slide shows; plus the standard promotional materials Wicked includes on all their DVDs.

At a time of year where good porn is usually hard to find (most studios "blow their wad" of good titles in the fall, if you'll pardon the pun) Next is a pleasant surprise.
