A Glimpse of Technical Excellence

An interesting film, this Downtown Girls from Zero Tolerance. Nate has definitely taken a different approach to an all sex film, and while I like the more traditional format, what is presented here is certainly pleasant enough. With stars like Ashli Orion, Faye Reagan and Sara Sloane around, it's hard not to have a quality film.

Part of what is so much fun about Ashli Orion is how personable she is. She is one of the very few stars I always want to see on the behind the scenes reel, as she seems to enjoy her work quite a bit. Here we almost have to take her a little bit too seriously, what with the pseudo-rap she performs to open. It's technically very interesting, shot well and was certainly very well thought-out. The music and lyrics themselves are a bit cringe-inducing, and Ashli has so much makeup on that she loses a lot of her expressiveness, but these are, in the grand scheme of things, relatively . Great artistic vision, in other words, but just a little bit off on execution. Ashli takes on two guys at once in a shower scene, though one where we can deliberately see that it's a film set as part of the scene's gimmick. Less talking from the guys would be good, I have to say. A hot scene, or at least as much as one girl taking on two guys with no anal can be. Great loads that Ashli takes in the end. Of course, I think double facials (at least) in every film should be a requirement, so take that for what it's worth. Just, please, no more rapping, Ashli.

Faye Reagan is always great to watch, especially with (I think still) real-life partner Dane Cross as her co-star. These two put on a scene as only two people who are really into each other could. Faye looks as hot as ever, and I do like the under-dye look she has going. Nice touch with a redhead. The camera angles are definitely a different technical direction, as they tend to stay in place when the action moves on. It's as though we're thinking our point of view should go elsewhere but it stays put. Somehow it isn't nearly as frustrating as I thought it might be. Oh, and Faye on cowgirl is really pleasant. It's a body shot in the end, despite my fervent hope for a facial. Then again, that's my hope for every scene, so take it for what it's worth.

Sara Sloane works really hard on this disc, getting a guy in one scene and a girl in another. She must have done something to please the director. I do like the opening she has to the blowjob, where she's in the background, a bit out of focus, clearly measuring up the dick in the foreground she's going to suck. knows his filmmaking techniques. The lighting is just a bit off in this scene to me, like everything gets slightly blurred. I don't mind messing around with the technical aspects of a film, but I don't like it as much when they interfere with actually watching the film. This is a scene that suffers from continuous close-ups, like I don't feel like I ever got to see the talent. Innovative, though not as enjoyable as I hoped it would be.

Not much in the way of extras here, which is a little bit sad, I suppose. Overall the film suffers from just trying to do a little bit too much. I mean, the bits like having two guys in chicken costumes during Ashli's video were over the top, counter-acting the tone of the film as a whole. While Nate has done some tremendous things with filmmaking here, there is perhaps a bit of artistic refinement that needs to go into the next installment. Perhaps continuity of message would do that. Regardless, Downtown Girls is a decent film that suggest some places where the all sex feature may go in the future. The female talent is outstanding, the action is legit, and the technical aspects are all there, as jumbled as they may be. Definitely worth a watch.

These Downtown Girls know how to get down and dirty!

I really, really wanted to check out one of the newest booty-licious porn starlets, Sara Sloane, and Zero Tolerance's Downtown Girls shows off her assets quite nicely. The cover shot of her is amazing, and the DVD opens with Sara in tiny booty shorts taking a bike ride in abandoned urban streets. She's a great tease, and even better at sucking Rocco Reed's stiff cock. The sex scene as a whole was pretty good, but those first ten to fifteen minutes are what you really want to watch out for.

The next scene jumped around a little bit, which was distracting, but fortunately James Deen was the male star in this one. He can take any scene, with any girl, in any outfit, and make it one of the hottest things you've ever seen. Juliette Bardot looks fantastic and seemed genuinely turned on at all times, which also helped this scene along. It's a shame James Deen couldn't have been in Ashli Orion's boy/boy/girl threesome to help make the action go a tad smoother though.

In the next scene, we are led to believe that faux photographer Dane Cross will get to have his way with two women, but only one sticks around for some hardcore fun. Faye Reagan and Dane Cross have had great chemistry every time they've been paired together. This scene, like the first on the DVD, had titillating teasing followed by a rambunctious sex session. It was probably my favorite scene.

Cover girl Sara Sloane shows up one more time for some girl-on-girl action. Her muff-fest with Georgia Jones had unbelievably hot camera angles and I think that's what made this scene so memorable. I'm not big on girl/girl scenes, but this one was the exception to the rule.

Downtown Girls had a lot of variety and gorgeous young ladies. I would give this DVD a perfect 10, but there were just a few spots where the action could have been a little smoother. Overall, this is a great DVD to own or download.
