Dita Von Teese Biography

Early Life

Born in a small town in Michigan and raised in a historic antique-filled home, Dita Von Teese's longtime fascination with 1940s cinema and classic retro style has made her name and image synonymous with classic vintage glamour.

Career

Dita has worked with and posed for every gentleman's magazine imaginable (including Bizzare and Marquis), in addition to cover work for fetish, and mainstream magazines. She was featured in Playboy in 1999, 2001, and 2002, as well as being on the cover with a full feature pictorial in 2002. She is a prolific performer in burlesque and is often a master of ceremonies for many artistic, vaudeville-type events. She is credited with the revitalization of the neo-burlesque movement, and has styled herself after the stars from the glamorous 1920-1940's eras. She feature dances in adult clubs, and musical events.

In addition to work in the fetish film genre, she has also performed in mainstream acting roles, such as The Death of Salvador Dali, CSI and many documentaries focusing on life in Hollywood and the music industry. She has also been in several band's music videos, such as Marilyn Manson,Thirty Seconds to Mars, and Die Antwoord to name a few.

Personal Life

At one time, Dita was married to rocker Marilyn Manson. She inspired the Golden Age of Grotesque album released in 2003. Before her relationship with Manson, Dita had been linked to musician Mike Ness and actor Peter Sarsgaard.
