LackLUSTer BLUE MOVIE

The beautiful cover design (spotlighting multiple images of lovely Shayla LaVeaux) of the clumsily titled LUST BLUE MOVIE is one of the few attractive traits salvageable in this sloppily assembled, meandering collection of vignettes from director John Yuma. My first exposure to Mr. Yuma's work came in the form of LUST IN RED, a completely mediocre video which is similar in design and style to this one under review. Thankfully, talents like Jodie Moore, LaVeaux and Aria (not to be confused with the Studio-A girl of the same name) manage to elevate this flick to average status, but we again get another appearance by Rebecca Lord, who is paired with dark-haired Rumika Power, in an dull lesbian scene. It's yet another disappointment from Jill Kelly Video, which had early winners like PERFECT 10's [sic], APRIL IN JANUARY and WEB MISTRESS but have not fared as well with Mr. Yuma's work.

Watching this feature, one is never quite sure whether we are getting newly filmed vignettes, or whether it's a compilation from other videos. (Indeed, some of the scenes are letterboxed and shot in different lighting conditions than the others, and there is no continuity at all between segments.) But overall, the bland eroticism makes such questions irrelevant. Though generally competently produced and directed, the hardcore set-ups are as plain vanilla as you can get. LUST BLUE MOVIE should do the (hand)job if you're bored and home alone and need a little stress relief. And it might be a good grab-bag for those who want disjointed variety: you get a threesome with Jodie Moore, Billy Glide and Anthony; a lesbian pairing with Rebecca and Rumika; a romantic straight scene with Shayla and Jay Ashley; a solo scene with Marika Savan; a girl-guy vignette with Keri Windsor and Steve Hatcher; and a movie-ending affair between Aria and Craig Moore. (It does not help at all that male cast members are not properly identified in the DVD, so some the guys may be wrongly listed here.) If you are a die-hard and uncritical fan of any of these performers, then by all means give this disc a spin.

Admittedly, the sex here is not bad at all, and all the women do damn well in their respective scenes despite the undistinguishable direction. Aria, in particular looks like she could bounce on her partner's dick forever the way she goes at it, and Keri Windsor deep throats Mr. Ashley with more enthusiasm than I've ever witnessed in her previous videos. However, the Lords segment is filled with passion that is too obviously and faked. Even worse, her scene stops abruptly instead of ending gently. The least the director or editor could have done was to have the girls give us a concluding kiss or whatever, instead of freeze-framing an image of Runkia getting fucked with a strap-on dildo. Another highlight includes Shayla clearly enjoying and swallowing the cum which lands on her tongue (though most of it hits her face), but she's relegated to a single, darkly lit scene. Jodie Moore's well-done threesome and double penetration scene is the most torrid moment on this DVD, and it really kicks off the film with a bang. After that, the rest seems just kind of..."eh."

Video quality is generally good overall, though the letterboxed, shot-on-film segments are a bit too soft and hazy. The audio is problem-free, but also unremarkable, as are the extras which include a photo gallery for this film and a couple other Jill Kelly flicks, as well as Behind The Scenes featurettes for MY PERFECT 10's [sic], 100% HAVEN and 100% JILL. Oh, and by the way, when you watch the opening credits to this movie, you are greeted with snippets of graphic action apparently taken from other Yuma flicks, so just be aware that stars like Gwen Summers (who is seen very briefly) appear nowhere else on this DVD.

Other than as a third tier choice, I can't really recommend LUST BLUE MOVIE.
