The "Anal" version of Dirty Debutantes

Though inarguably charismatic, and able to laugh at his own flaws, Ed Powers fails to overcome the lackluster elements in the fourteenth volume of New Ends - even with charm. Essentially, and to paraphrase the box cover blurb, New Ends is an "anal" Dirty Debutantes. Four fresh faces, ranging in age from eighteen to twenty five, allow Ed to sample goods - with giddy resolve. Trademark Ed material for sure, but the means to this end are riddled with redundancy and poor attention to detail.

Are there elements of worthy notation? Of course there are. Not unlike just about every other filmed piece of art in the world, nothing is perfect, there is good and there is bad together. We, as observers and purveyors, hope that the good outweighs the bad. New Ends, however, hits a proverbial fork in the road, and then chooses to take the "let's hurry up and shoot this thing" route, instead of trying to raise the bar a little.

Back to what's good...

The first lovely lady to grace the screen is Korean/Brit mix Kianna. Physically, she is well formed, from a combination of Mother Nature's touch, and, a bit of synthetic "uplifting", and charismatic in her own right. Of the four debutantes in New Ends, Kianna is by far the most aesthetically appealing and sexually convincing.

The remaining "good stuff" resides entirely within the DVD transfer arena. Believe it or not, New Ends 14 is quite impressive as an interactive medium. That's not to suggest this DVD has easter eggs, game areas and multi-angles capability. However, the little niceties this disc does have are well worth mentioning. First of all, each titled chapter is broken down by "starring" female. Each is then further broken into six sub-chapters, focusing on particular sex acts. Other extras contain biographies, Ed's personal discourse, plus some other Powers-related swag, all nicely packaged and easily accessible.

The body of New Ends...

Following the same tried and true formula as Dirty Debutantes, Ed Powers begins each segment with a question and answer session, designed to introduce each young lady to the viewing audience. Also similar to DD, the first few minutes of action are filmed in first person format, whereby Ed unsteadily attempts to focus on both his manhood and the girl who's manhandling it. Through a series of, again, formulated events, Ed gets his rocks off, while simultaneously warming his newbie partner up for New Ends signature twist - anal excursion. As adult film newcomers, these four ladies do show signs of first-time fever. Some are camera-eager, and almost ignorant of the action taking place as they repeatedly glance/stare at the lens. Others show distinct signs, through facial expressions, of "surprise" as their ass is pierced by Ed's fleshy tool. And with one exception (Kianna), the on-screen exhibit is just right thanks to convincing enthusiasm.

Besides the unsteady, and sometimes unclear camera work, New Ends 14 contains a steady-flowing background noise that truly detracts from one's ability to stay focused. In fact, about halfway through the picture, Ed makes reference to this overtly annoying sound; explaining briefly that it's the air conditioning unit. That being said, unmistakably the most redundant and unnecessary element of New Ends is exactly the same element in every Ed Powers movie - too much Ed. Again, great guy, but most adult productions that employee the efforts of just a single male, for all the girls, usually run into a wall of monotony. Variety and diversity make a film worth watching over and over again, without risk of dullness due to a mismatched ratio.

The sex...

The formula for all chapters runs the same course. The Q & A leads to the woman stripping down. From there, a solo act or vibe assisted masturbation bout ensues. By now, Ed is usually prepared to offer either his tongue, or his cock for oral action. Some missionary, some doggy, and some spooning fuck play fills up most of the middle time. Closing the chapters out, Ed fills up each lady's (respectively) backdoor opening with some variation in position. The final act of indecency is resolved with a facial, and in some case a mouthful, of Ed's man-juice.

Ed Powers is a good-natured guy, well established and respected in the business, and obviously very successful with his style of erotica. Viewers who enjoy the Dirty Debutantes series, and want a little more anal activity, then New Ends 14 may be the ticket. Of course, anyone who enjoys the New Ends series as a whole will probably find enjoyment with this particular installment as well. However, audiences unaccustomed to Mr. Powers method of projecting "newbie" sex may want to consider the repetitive nature of this beast prior to investing in it.
